"One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor," says the bartender.

Everyone has a crazy or hilarious tale about te

National Tequila Day is July 24, and while a Tuesday might not be the ideal day to celebrate a holiday dedicated to booze, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a margarita or two at dinner.

If you do plan to go out and celebrate, here are 10 weird tequila facts to impress your friends with. And, most importantly, drink responsibly.

  1. Tequila can only be made in some parts of Mexico. Tequila, like champagne, must be produced in the Champagne region of France in order to be legally labeled as such. Any agave spirit made outside of Mexico is simply referred to as "tequila."

  2. It can be beneficial to your health. Of course, in moderation. Tequila contains an ingredient that helps break down dietary fat, which can lower bad cholesterol levels, according to studies. After dinner, a shot will also help with digestion.

  3. There is a tequila-powered vehicle. Chrysler developed a turbine engine in 1964 that could operate on any flammable liquid, including tequila. The vehicles, however, were prohibitively costly (approximately $400,000 in today's money). One of the three is owned by Jay Leno.

  4. Tequila can be very costly. $225,000 was paid for the most expensive bottle of tequila ever sold. That isn't a mistake.

  5. There is a kind of tequila that does not cause a hangover. Tequila is known for giving people the worst hangovers. There is, however, a version that does not provide you with one at all. Blanco tequila, which is made entirely of agave, is free of the sugars and corn syrup that cause hangovers in other spirits.

  6. Tequila has the potential to transform into diamonds. Tequila's chemical composition lies in the diamond growth zone, according to a group of Mexican physicists, who have used it to manufacture diamonds. They are, however, too small to be used as jewelry.

  7. Tequila should be sipped rather than snorted. Tequila is a sophisticated spirit in Mexico, similar to a fine Kentucky bourbon, that should be sipped slowly to savor the flavor. Furthermore, requesting salt and a lime is a sign of a cheap tequila, as these are used to mask the taste.

  8. Tequila is a kind of mezcal. However, mezcal is not the same as tequila. Remember how in geometry class we learned that "a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square"? Exactly the same situation. Tequila can only be made from blue agave plants, while mezcal can be made from any agave plant.

  9. "Jimadors" are the men who harvest agave plants. Not every hero wears a mask.

  10. Tequila is said to have been found by mistake by the Aztecs. They apparently saw lightning hit an agave plant and found the plant was oozing a sweet-smelling and tasting liquid. They found that if the liquid was left alone, it fermented into tequila.
